Verbal Communication
Verbal Communication courses are an excellent way for students to raise Speaking and Listening skills to new levels quickly and cost effectively. Verbal Communication can be taken as a course on its own, or as an "Elective" subject: part of an English PLUS course.

Lexis aims :
- To develop the student's active vocabulary through exploring lexical families.
- To engage students in activities which provide an opportunity to use and memorise "new" vocabulary.
- To identify areas of vocabulary which are useful to students in their everyday lives and to provide them with the opportunity to practice these areas within interesting and productive activites.
Pronunciation aims :
- To raise awareness of features of pronunciation which contribute to the repair and maintenance of conversation in English.
- To practice phonology in areas which cause difficulty to the speaker due to "Mother Tongue" interference and which may confuse the listener in conversation.
Discourse Management aims :
- To develop the students' ability to organise their speech according to the conventions of conversations in English.
- To help students to increase their range of phrases and lexical items which organise coherent speech and conversation.
Speaking aims :
- To provide interesting activities for students to practice their conversational skills.
- To develop students' fluency through examining strategies employed by native speakers when engaged in conversation.
- To raise awareness of the conventions of conversation in English and to create opportunities to practice production of these.
Listening aims :
- To develop listening skills from the "top-down" (cultural and social references) and from the "bottom-up" (grammatical and phonological features).
- To rais awareness of features of connected speech (assimilation, linking and intrusion) which can impede listening comprehension for second language learners.
